Grade Points

The basis for granting grade points is as follows:

A – 4 grade points per semester hour

B – 3 grade points per semester hour

C – 2 grade points per semester hour

D – 1 grade points per semester hour

F – 0 grade points per semester hour

W – Withdrawn

I – Incomplete

Semester Plan
The college operates on a semester plan, with two semesters per year. Any full semester of work with passing grades will count toward graduation.

Changing/Dropping Courses
Students may change courses during the first 2 weeks of a semester or drop courses during the first 8 weeks, but must obtain permission of the Registrar or Dean. Drops after 8 weeks, or unofficial withdrawals, will results in an automatic failing grade.

Repeating Courses
Courses which the student has previously taken in which the grade of “F” was made, must be repeated for credit. A grade of “D” may be repeated for quality points but not for hours. A grade of “I” must be made up within 3 weeks after the close of the semester. Failure to make up within 3 weeks after the close of the semester. Failure to make up the “I”, results in a grade of “F”.

Probation
Satisfactory scholastic work is an average grade of 2 points (2.0). Students failing to maintain this average are subject to probation. If a student placed on probation for a semester fails to come up to standard during this period, he or she may be asked to leave. A student may be considered for readmission after appeal to the admission committee.

Clock Hours
The institution operates by clock hours. This means that each class has a period of sixty (60) minutes, with a minimum of fifty (50) minutes of instruction for each course.
